Did you watch the Golden Globes last night? Did you love/like/hate it?
FIRST: THE BEST moment from The Globes:
I enjoyed it. But I enjoy the Globes every year regardless of the host. My favorite was last year’s show, of course, because of Ricky and how exciting, hilarious and FRESH it was. This year would not be the same and it, it wasn’t, but it was still a lot of fun. Ricky was Ricky. His Jodie Foster joke and his The Tourist joke were my two favorites of the evening. I have this very strong hatred towards The Tourist and I’ll never let it go. Because, you know, The Globes nominated it for the SOLE reason Angelina and Johnny would show up. FUCK OFF. ANYWAYS, Meryl was drunk. She’s always drunk though and that’s the best. BUT what I came away with tonight is that there is a real race this year! Everything was so clear cut last year but really, we still don’t know who’s going to snatch those awards this year. It’s fun.
Let’s go through each winner:
Best Drama Actor: George Clooney, The Descendants. For sure. I knew it was going to see it, but until you see Shame and see what a fucking relevation Michael Fassbender is, you will be as upset as I am.
Best Motion Picture Comedy/Musical: The Artist. I liked it. Didn’t love it. 50/50 and Midnight In Paris were both better films. This means A LOT for The Artist though. It’s really come ahead of the pack. I feel like Midnight MIGHT surprise though.
Best Drama Actress: Meryl Streep, The Iron Lady. This was a surprise for me, even though it’s Ms. Streep. I haven’t seen The Iron Lady, I won’t see it either, the reviews are too mixed but what I’ve heard is that, of course, Meryl is better than the film. I still think Viola should have won. (I’ve yet to see Kevin)
Best Comedy/Musical Actor: Jean Dujardin, The Artist. He’s great in the film and out of all the nominees I think Joeseph Gordon-Levitt was much better but, you know.
Best Director: Martin Scorsese Hugo. Well now I HAVE to see Hugo.
Best Drama Actress: Octavia Spencer, The Help. She was incredible in the help. So good. So was Jessica Chastain, but I loved Shailene Woodley in The Descendants.
Best Animated Film: The Adventures of Tintin. I LOVED Tintin so I’m DOWN with this.
Best Comedy/Musical Actress Performance: Michelle Williams, My Week With Marilyn. She was great in the film, and also much better in the film and I am fine with this win. She might come ahead of Viola and battle it out with Streep, which I’me fine with.
Best Supporting Actor Drama: Christopher Plummer, Beginngers.
TELEVISION (the ones I care about):
Best Comedy: Modern Family. It’s time has passed. NEXT
Best Actor Comedy/Musical: Matt LeBlanc, Episodes. I WAS SO HAPPY ABOUT THIS. I LOVED Episodes. So well deserved.
Best Actress Drama: Claire Danes, Homeland. She’s really made a comeback for herself, huh?
Best Actress Comedy/Musical: Laura Dern, Englighened. LAURA LINNEY AND AMY POEHLER WERE ROBBED. That’s all.
